The issue of the plan has rumbled on since it was adopted in April unanimously by the 31 elected members of Mayo County Council, with a number of submissions and changes put forward by the Minister for Environment, John Gormley, and his department and issued on his behalf by County Manager Des Mahon.

Tributes paid to recently deceased parents of councillors

The monthly meeting of Mayo County Council was adjourned this week, as a mark of respect to two of the elected members of the council whose parents died recently. Glowing tributes were paid to both Mr Michael Mulherin, father of Ballina-based Councillor Michelle Mulherin and Angela O’Brien, mother of south-Mayo Cllr Patsy O’Brien.

Mayo County Council to review signage policy

Director of services with Mayo County Council Joe Loftus said that a review of signage policy would be looked into following a notice of motion before the council’s monthly meeting by Councillor Damien Ryan as regards promotional signage.
